After qualifying as a chartered accountant at Deloitte in London, Ian founded IDM Group in South Africa. It started as one person (Ian) with one telephone and grew to nearly a thousand staff, helping over one million consumers get out of debt before exiting for £90m in 2022. He also scaled and sold DMS Mauritius and JustMoney.co.za, South Africa’s largest comparison site.
With 20 years of board experience across logistics, media, advertising and financial services, Ian has been instrumental in multiple successful exits.
A long-time mentor, investor, local politician and charitable trustee, he remains deeply involved in entrepreneurship and governance. Several of our early investments have been sourced from founders Ian has mentored in the past. We believe that there is no greater accolade than this.
